The Crooked Forest (Polish: Krzywy Las) is a grove of oddly-shaped pine trees located near the town of Gryfino, West Pomerania, Poland.

Scientist think that this grove of about 400 pines was planted around 1930. It is located close to the village of Nowe Czarnowo.  Each pine tree bends sharply to the north, just above the ground level from there it has a curve up where it grows straight up again. The hight of the curves are around 1 tot 3 meters.

The surrounding forest exists out of normal straight growing pine trees. It is generally believed that some form of human tool or technique was used to make the trees grow or bend this way, but the method was never determined and remains a mystery to this day. It has been speculated that the trees may have been deformed to create naturally curved timber for use in furniture or boat building.

Others surmise that a snowstorm could have bent the trunks, but there is little evidence of that.

The forest was featured in season 1, episode 4 of The UnXplained on the History channel titled "Unnatural Nature" that first aired on 9 August 2019. The site is open to the public and serves as a notable tourist attraction in the region.

I visited this place in July 2021. If you are visiting Scszecin (Stettin) in the north-west of Poland this site can be an interesting visit. It is just about half our driving south of this city almost straight at the border of Germany. Entrance to the Crooked Forest is free. You just need half an hour for a visit to this place. From the entrance it is just a 5 minute walk to the site.
